Pickleworm: Oviposition on an Artificial Surface Treated with Cucurbit Extract12

Abstract
Ethanol extract of squash leaves, applied to pieces of fiberglass building insulation, provided as good an oviposition site for Diaphania nitidalis (Stoll) as fresh squash leaves, although moths preferred squash leaves if presented with both. Squash extract was much more attractive to ovipositing moths than extracts of cucumber, watermelon, or tomato. Implications of these results on pickleworm rearing and plant resistance studies are discussed.
