Abstract
The O2 consumption quotient (Qo2) of lung brei prepared from control rats and rats that have been injected intravenously with growth medium containing anthrax toxin was measured. A 30% decrease occurs in the tissues of the experimental animals. When a-ketoglutarate is used as a substrate, no relative change occurs. However, added succinate brings the experimental Q02 essentially up to control values. It is postulated that diphosphopyridine nucleotide-dependent enzymes were affected.
