Abstract
An exploratory study of working youths in Minneapolis and St. Paul, Minnesota, is reported. The purpose of the study was to learn more specific research questions and hypotheses for more rigorous research about the life situation and personal experiences of youths who work. Two hundred seventy-two youths were interviewed in one of three ways. Select findings from 51 cases are presented on the youths' orientation to their future. The implications of these select findings for professional practice in human services are noted and other research foci are suggested. Keywords
