Formation of zirconium(III) complexes by thermolysis of (η5-C5H5)2ZrH(CH2PPh2)

Abstract
E.s.r. spectra obtained when the thermolytic reduction of (η5-C5H5)2ZrH(CH2PPh2) in the presence of a phosphine PR3 is monitored, compared with those obtained from (η5–C5H5)2ZrH2, led to the characterization of a monophosphine zirconium(III) hydride formulated as the adduct (η5-C5H5)2ZrH(PR3) and a new species assumed to be a metallated complex such as (η5-C5H5)2[graphic omitted]R2.
