Abstract
A six‐year‐old boy with systemic lupus erythematosus developed insidiously a monolateral serous retinal detachment leading to severe visual loss. Serial determinations of anticardiolipin antibodies showed the presence of IgG anticardiolipin antibodies only at the time of ocular involvement. This case underlines the need for regular ophthalmologic evaluation in children with active systemic lupus erythematosus and supports the previous hypothesis of a relationship between antiphospholipid antibodies and retinal involvement in systemic lupus erythematosus. Keywords
