Abstract
Resistance to the root rot phase or to the head blight phase of the disease caused by Bipolaris sorokiniana was found in certain lines from the cross Hordeum leporinum × H. vulgare and from subsequent crosses and backcrosses to common barley. All lines were susceptible to the leaf spot phase of the same disease. There was a wide range in the reaction of the lines to root rot and to head blight; resistance to root rot was found primarily in the winter types whereas resistance to head blight was found largely in the spring types. There was no apparent relationship between root rot and head blight resistance as none of the lines showed good resistance to both. This publication has 2 references indexed in Scilit:
