The Fate of Yeast in the Digestive Tract of Drosophila

Abstract
The rate of digestion of yeast is related to the temp. at which the flies are stored. For this reason, unless care is taken, flies collected in nature and shipped to the laboratory for yeast studies may be completely free of yeast. A procedure has been worked out wherein flies may be collected in nature, cooled and shipped under sufficiently cool conditions to the laboratory so that relatively few yeasts are destroyed by digestion during shipment and handling.
