Abstract
Measurements are reported for the temperature dependence of the single crystal elastic constants C11 and C44 of US in its para‐ and ferromagnetic regions. A softening of C11 sets in from approximately 20 K above Tc to exhibit a minimum at Tc. The shear constant C44 undergoes a softening over the entire paramagnetic region to reach a maximum change of 15% at Tc. This latter behavior is reminiscent of the paramagnetic temperature dependence of C44 in UO2.This publication has 9 references indexed in Scilit:
