Abstract
Using published evolutionary tracks for stellar models of a given mass an HR diagram is constructed for a stellar cluster with a spread in the formation epoch of the stars. As an illustration of the use of the diagram produced, the greatest spread in ages, compatible with observations, in certain stellar clusters is found. The hypothesis that such a spread in age must be the cause of the blue straggler stars found in some clusters is investigated, but rejected. Keywords
