Abstract
A recently developed wave theory of lattice-directed trajectories is applied to the most commonly measured parameters in channeling experiments. It is found that the generation of secondary signals oscillates with the crystal thickness and the initial angle between the low-index direction and the beam direction. In the angular-transmission pattern the projectile energy and band structure of the transverse plane is projected onto the detecting plane and the beam spot has the symmetry of the channeling direction. The beam profile in the channel can be determined and thermal effects are readily accounted for. Keywords
