Abstract
Plasma catecholamine (CA) concentrations, mean arterial pressure (MAP) and plasma corticosteroids were measured in fifteen unsupplemented glucocorticoid-treated patients undergoing major surgery. Eight patients had normal and seven patients had reduced plasma corticosteroid concentrations. Changes in plasma CA and MAP during surgery were not related to adrenocortical function. Two patients developed hypotension during the operation, but had normal plasma CA and corticosteroid concentrations. Keywords
