Abstract
The developmental effects of a newly described recessive lethal mutation at the T/t locus in the mouse were studied. Litters segregating tw73/tw73 homozygotes were examined histologically 6-8 days post-copulation. The principal defects seen in the abnormal homozygotes were associated with failure of the trophectoderm to proliferate and invade the uterine decidua. The degeneration and death of the embryo proper appeared to be secondary consequences of the trophectodermal abnormality. The effects of tw73 on embryonic development were similar to those of other T/t locus mutations. They were manifested in ectodermal derivatives and resulted from a failure of normal cell-cell interactions. This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
