Abstract
Six marine Ascomycetes [Corollospora lacera (Linder) Kohlm., C. maritima Werdermann, Halosphaeria Salina (Meyers) Kohlm., Lignincola laevis Hohnk Lulworthia sp., Torpedospora radiata Meyers] and 4 Fungi Imperfecti [Dendryphiella salina (Suth.) Pugh et Nicot, Trichocladium achrasporum (Meyers et Moore) Dixon, Varicosporina ramulosa Meyers et Kohlm., Zalerion varium Anastasiou.] were discovered on Easter Island (southern Pacific Ocean) on driftwood, intertidal wood and washed-up algae (Zonaria sp.). All are new records for this island and most are new records for the South Pacific. Ascospores of sand-inhabiting fungi occur in sea foam. The marine mycota of Easter Island is considered tropical to subtropical. Thalassoascus lessioniae sp. nov. is a parasite on hold-fasts of Lessonia nigrescens on the coast of central Chile. The new binomial T. cystoseirae comb. nov. [Melanopsamma tregoubovii Oll. (Oll.) var. cystoseirae Ollivier] is proposed and a key to the species of Thalassoascus is provided. This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
