Abstract
To perform a successful drug testing program, the concept of "antiviral drug" should first be defined (i.e., is "drug" defined as an interferon, an interferon-stimulator, a cell-cycle inhibitor, etc.). The mode of drug isolation, test viruses, and choice of animal or cell culture system should proceed in accordance with the previously defined concept of antiviral drug. During some phase of the research, the potential drug should be tested in an infected system which simulates closely as possible a clinical situation. Keywords
