Liposuction for Fat Biopsy

Abstract

This is the first published report of the use of liposuction for removing fat while intentionally minimizing the resultant appearance change. Ten to 20 gm buttock fat were removed from 31 male volunteers for chemical analysis of dioxins. Unlike conventional techniques of fat biopsy, liposuction allows larger quantities to be removed for study without noticeable scarring or deformity.
