Abstract
m‐Hexaphenyl ether, diphenyl ether, and 1,3‐bis(p‐phenoxybenzenesulfonyl)benzene were polymerized with isophthaloyl and terephthaloyl chloride in a Friedel‐Crafts type polymerization. The polymers were endcapped withp‐cyanobenzyl chloride or had units of 5‐cyanoisophthaloyl chloride in the backbone. They were crosslinked effectively, possibly by the trimerization of the nitrile groups to triazines. Model reactions were carried out for each type of polymer. Keywords
