Abstract
Flotation is proposed as an alternative to sedimentation for removing metal hydroxide precipitates formed in the treatment of effluents from metal finishing operations. A brief study has shown the effect of different parameters in the system on the metal content of the effluents. An estimate of the costs of treating effluents by this method showed it to be more costly than sedimentation; on the other hand, metals recovery may be facilitated and this would offset the higher costs. Keywords
