Chemical effect on:x-ray intensity ratios

Abstract
Chemical effects on the Kβ:Kα x-ray intensity ratios for some Mn and Cr compounds are studied both theoretically and experimentally. The K x-ray spectra were measured by the use of a double crystal spectrometer with high energy resolution. The theoretical calculations were made with use of the discrete-variational molecular-orbital method and the x-ray intensities were evaluated in the dipole approximation using molecular wave functions. The calculated results indicate that the Kβ:Kα ratios for compounds with tetrahedral symmetry are in general larger than those with octahedral symmetry. The theoretical relative Kβ:Kα intensity ratios are qualitatively in agreement with the experimental results.
