Abstract

(−)-Malyngolide was synthesized from (S)-2-hydroxy-2-nonyl-6-heptenal, prepared in high optical yield by an asymmetric synthesis using (S)-2-(anilinomethyl)pyrrolidine as a chiral auxiliary.
