Abstract
This report describes application of the Optimal Control Model for pilot vehicle analysis to a simulated helicopter hover task. The model is used to predict the effects on performance of changes in motion cues, visual delay and movement of the hover reference point (ship movement). The predicted results are compared with data obtained in a separate experimental study of these effects. The OCM correctly predicts almost all the trends observed in the data and its predictions are all within the bounds of pilot-to-pilot variability. Keywords
