Realities of Respite Care

Abstract
Respite care in the form of day care centres, in-home respite and institutional care, has been the cornerstone of care for the disabled elderly. Evidence for its effectiveness in helping carers or disabled clients is hard to come by. In this paper, a proposition is put forward for a carefully designed study to answer some of the important points often raised by the providers of such services.
