Abstract
Arthroderma simii was isolated for the first time from soil and hair of small mammals. The dermatophyte was recovered from 22 (7·7%) of 287 soil samples and it was isolated on 36 occasions from the hair of 359 apparently healthy small mammals examined. Five isolates which were tested for pathogenicity produced severe lesions in the experimental animals. Keywords
