Abstract
We investigate the nature of the approximations involved in the multigroup treatment of the time‐dependent neutron transport equation by using the method of approximating sequences of Banach spaces. We prove that solutions of the multigroup system converge, in a suitable sense, to the corresponding solutions of the exact transport equation. Moreover, we indicate the order of magnitude of the rate of convergence. Keywords
