Abstract
Complete reversal of streptozotocin-induced diabetes mellitus in adult rats will follow transplantation of a single fetal pancreas if the organ is first grown in a normal syngeneic carrier before transfer to the diabetic recipient. Careful control of the blood sugar of diabetic recipients may enhance the function of a single donor organ and thus improve histocompatibility matching. Keywords
