Abstract
A 30-year-old man with recurrent episodes of hematochezia underwent a Tc-99m pertechnetate study that showed, on anterior imaging, increased radiotracer accumulation just to the right of the midline in the anterior pelvis, near the aortic bifurcation into the common iliac arteries. However, during image acquisition, this abnormal accumulation of radiotracer diminished as the urinary bladder enlarged. The focal radiotracer accumulation was located in an ectopic right kidney within the true pelvis, which was confirmed by CT imaging. FIGURE 1Fig. 1: Sequential imaging of the abdomen after administration of Tc-99m pertechnetate shows rapid accumulation of radiotracer within the pelvis near the midline (arrow), with subsequent washout of radiotracer with time.FIGURE 2Fig. 2: A contrast-enhanced CT of the pelvis shows an ectopic pelvic right kidney (white arrows) (1–4).Keywords
