Abstract
In this paper, we examine the problem of the self-synchronizing chaotic receiver, extracting the parameters of the transmitter system from the available transmitted signals and thereby achieving synchronization. Ascertaining the parameter equality will be an important issue in any practical implementation of a chaotic communication system. We define a cost function whose iterative minimization allows the receiver to extract the parameters. The method is illustrated for the Lorenz system and two coupled Lorenz systems. Last, we suggest chaotic multiplexing as a possible application of the method. Keywords
