Electrolyte solutions in dimethyl sulphoxide. Part 2.—Caesium iodide

Abstract
Measurements of activity coefficients, equivalent conductivities, viscosities and n.m.r. spectra have been made on solutions of caesium iodide in dimethyl sulphoxide. Anomalies in the activity coefficient data at the freezing point are attributed to ion-pair formation. At low concentrations, the equivalent conductivity at 25°C followed the equations for a completely dissociated electrolyte, while at higher concentrations an empirical correction for increased viscosity is necessary. Shifts of the 1H and 135Cs resonances vary roughly linearly with concentration.
