Abstract
In a group of nondiabetic patients, postinfarction hyperglycemia was found to be closely associated with high levels of plasma immunoreactive glucagon (IRG). It is proposed that, in certain cases, hyperglycemia following acute myocardial infarction may be related to a temporary and uninhibited rise in plasma glucagon levels, probably stimulated by the major stress of acute myocardial infarction.Keywords
