Abstract
An explicit demonstration is given of the invariance under propagator gauge transformations of the Feynman-graph prescription obtained by several authors for a non-Abelian gauge field; the role of the anomalous closed-loop vertices of that prescription is thereby clarified. This invariance property permits a derivation of the covariant prescription starting with canonical quantization in a noncovariant gauge without unphysical degrees of freedom. Keywords
