Systemic Blastomycosis Presenting with Acute Prostatic Abscess

Abstract
The incidence of prostatic abscess has been declining. Initially, gonococcal organisms were the major offending pathogens but, more recently, the coliform group has predominated. A case of systemic blastomycosis that presented as an acute prostatic abscess is reported. A review of the recent literature does not reveal any cases of disseminated blastomycosis presenting in this manner.
