Abstract
In 1974, Congress established the National Commission on Diabetes which recommended that the Centers for Disease Control implement the health care and educational com ponent of a Long Range Plan. In 1977, at the Commission's recom mendation, the CDC established Dia betes Control Programs in 20 states. The wide variety of interventions and special studies conducted by these states include patient and professional education projects as well as activities related to primary care, complications, and others such as insulin pump sur veillance and hypertension. This paper focuses on project activities, implementation, evaluation of educa tion interventions, and preliminary results of these programs. This publication has 2 references indexed in Scilit:
