Abstract
The g factors of the first 2+ state in Os192 and the first and second 2+ states in Pt192 have been measured by γγ perturbed angular correlation using Ge(Li) and NaI(Tl) spectrometers. The results are g2+(Os192)=0.28±0.04, g2+(Pt192)=0.28±0.03, and g2+(Pt192)=0.13±0.07. While the first and second quoted results agree well with calculation based on collective models, the last result gives evidence for a predominantly noncollective excitation.
