Abstract
A time-to-digital converter (TDC) with 10-20 ps ( sigma -value) single-shot resolution was designed for laser range finding. It has an extendable 2.56- mu s measurement range and a channel length of 10 ps. Average temperature drift was measured to be +1.7 ps/ degrees C. The TDC is constructed on only one E1-sized printed circuit board. This was made possible by integrating digital circuits with an ECL gate array. The power consumption of the TDC is 5.1 W.Keywords
