Abstract
Blood and urine samples from an acutely intoxicated patient who ingested methaqualone were studied. Four major monohydroxylated metabolites were found, conjugated, in the urine. Another, 2-methyl-3[2-(hydroxymethyl)phenyl]-4 (3H) quinazolinone appears unconjugated in both blood and urine and should be considered in assessing toxic effects following methaqualone ingestion. The concentration of metabolite II may indicate the time elapsed between ingestion and the time of collection of the specimen, while the amount of metabolite IV may indicate drug tolerance. This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
