Effect of Diluent Gas on Gas Chromatographic Analysis of Methane Using a Flame lonization Detector

Abstract
Variations in the composition of diluent gases have been found to affect the response of a flame ionization detector to methane. This potential error in analysis can be eliminated within limits of experimental error by adjusting chromatographic parameters so that the difference in retention times between the diluent gas flame disturbance peak and the CH4 peak is adequate.
