Studies of the C3 Polymorphism

Abstract
The conversion of the third complement component (C3) on storage at 4°C was studied by means of antigen-antibody crossed electrophoresis. Two con version products were found, of which one had a slow mobility and was labile on further storage, while the other was fast migrating and stable. Considerable individual variability was found concerning the conversion rate in vitro. No relationship between C3 phenotype and conversion rate was found.
