Abstract
The effects on uric acid excretion of single doses of CPIB [ethylchlorophenoxyisobutyrate] with androsterone, CPIB alone, and androsterone alone were compared. CPIB consistently, and CPIB with androsterone sometimes, increased urinary uric acid excretion. The uricosuric effect of CPIB was prevented by simultaneous administration of acetylsalicylic acid. Atromid was administered to 6 patients with gout for periods of between 6 and 24 weeks. In no case was there a sustained fall in the serum uric acid.
