Abstract
Using hydrothermal conditions, new phosphates related to minerals have been obtained:(i)Co3(HPO4)2(OH)2 isotype. of Lazulite, (Mg, Fe)Al2(PO4)2(OH)2, characterized by a layered structure. A metamagnetic behavior is observed below TN=10. 6K (HC50. 12T). (ii) M12+xH4−2x(PO4)6(HPO4)2(OH)6 with M=CO, Ni are isotypes of Dumortierite. These compounds crystallize with hexagonal symmetry. Their structure consists of a packing of dimeric entities M2O9 giving rise to strong magnetic interactions. In every case the magnetic interactions are analyzed with respect to the crystal structure and the nature of the transition metal ion. Keywords
