Abstract
An unsaturated amino acid amide (gamma-methyleneglutamine) and the corresponding dicarboxylic amino-acid (gamma-methyleneglutamic acid) were isolated from vegetative material of peanut plants. The acid showed no optical activity as its Na salt in water. The new compounds appear to be normal metabolites of the plants, but the reduced forms were not detected in ethanolic extracts of fresh material. Evidence was obtained that a 3d unsaturated amino compound was present in the autolysed material. Keywords
