Abstract
A 550 Kv. paper insulated pipe cable is on test. Maximum stress is 425 v/mil (17 kv/cm). A semi-synthetic taped joint operates at 315 v/mil and dissipation factor about 40% lower than the cable. A telemetered temperature monitoring system gives a direct reading of average conductor temperature. Design and manufacturing details are given. Keywords
