Abstract
The characters and relationships of a number of viruses of potential importance in human respiratory diseases are reviewed. Among the myxoviruses discussed are viruses related to influenza A (swine and horse influenza, British and Czechoslovak duck influenza, fowl plague), influenza B and C, mumps and Newcastle disease, and the para-influenzas. The ECHO viruses, 2060 and JH viruses, chimpanzee coryza agent and the common cold are also considered. In the final section of the paper the attempted transmission to laboratory animals of four myxoviruses is reported on.Keywords
