Abstract
The (α,tAl reaction has been studied at =50 MeV in the region of excitation energy from 5 to 10 MeV with an energy resolution of 20 keV. The fragmentation of the strengths for the stretched states is found to be consistent with the calculation for an oblately deformed nucleus, in contrast to the prolate shape of the ground-state band.
