Abstract
This report concerns 240 patients with eyelid cancer who were treated by various methods, namely: excision, electrodesiccation, combined electrodesiccation and radiation, Philips contact x-ray therapy, and conventional superficial x-rays. Of these methods, roentgentherapy, especially Philips contact x-ray therapy, was found to be the method of choice for carcinomas situated at the canthi and at the margin of the eyelids. Simple excision was the method of choice for those cancers on the eyelids not involving the canthi or the margins. Carcinomas of the inner canthi comprised the largest number in this study (56%). The second largest number (32%) were lesions of the lower eyelid. The results of treatment were generally excellent with a recurrence rate of 2%.Keywords
