Abstract
First, we examine the different kinds of problems encountered in the field of scattering from random rough surfaces. After a review of the electromagnetic theories, the specific difficulties are emphasized, by comparison with the problem of scattering by deterministic rough surfaces. Some numerical results are shown, in order to investigate the differences and similarities with periodic rough surfaces, for the perfectly conducting 2D model and the influence of the finite conductivity of the metal.© (1989) COPYRIGHT SPIE--The International Society for Optical Engineering.
