Abstract
A recent examination of the business case for improving quality in health care found few financial incentives (and sizable barriers) for health care organizations interested in investing in quality improvement. That analysis did not consider the special case of children's health care. To address this gap, an expert panel delineated aspects of children's health care-such as the need for care, patterns of use, and how care is organized and financed-that differ from adult care. It then identified barriers and solutions specific to children's health care, to ensure that children's unique needs are not lost in the debate. Keywords
