Abstract
From microscopic observations of droplets an intermediate state between and is located in a binary diagram of cyano mesogens. Considering the possible existence of a tetracritical point we suggest that this crenelated phase (because one antiphase domain grows at the expense of its neighbor) could be a necessary step between and .
