Abstract
Mitomycin C was added to mutant cells during exponential growth. Cells were observed with the electron microscope. Hexagonal bodies were observed in them as well as in disrupted cellular debris. These phages were similar in morphology to mycobacteriophages, and killed both M. smegmatis and the parent BCG strain without forming plaques or lysing any major areas of the bacterial flora which indicates they do not multiply intra-cellularly.
