Abstract
Cross-sectional topographic profiles of lateral moraines formed during different glaciations were measured at Lee Vining Canyon, California, to determine whether the degree of moraine degradation could be quantified and used for relative dating. Logarithmic plots of the value of a slope parameter against cross-sectional area show distinct linear trends for moraines of different relative ages. The slopes of these trends suggest that the degradation processes are not among those that can be modeled with the linear diffusion equation. Keywords
