Abstract
Brown pelicans (Pelecanus occidentalis) surface plunge for fish. The long bill and exaggerated gular pouch of pelicans have elicited speculation as to their actual movement underwater. For the first time, the use of the bill and pouch during prey capture by diving brown pelicans is described. This publication has 2 references indexed in Scilit:
