Abstract
WDM transmission tests were performed on a 4200 km installed section of the Trans-Pacific Cable (TPC-5) system. Tests were performed at transmission rates up to 10 Gbit/s and at distances up to 16800 km by looping the received signal back at each end. Our results demonstrate that the 4200 km section of TPC-5 Segment G is fully capable of operating at twice the design line rate of 5 Gbit/s.Keywords
